Mariinskyi Palace
The Mariinsky Palace in Kyiv was built in 1750–1755 folowing the model of the palace designed by Bartholomew Rastrelli for Oleksiy Razumovsky, the favorite and de facto husband of Empress Elizaveta Petrovna. During her visit to Kyiv in 1744, Elizaveta herself chose a place for the palace.
Nowadays, state ceremonies are held in the Mariinsky Palace – awards, receptions, presentation of credentials by ambassadors of foreign countries and meetings of official delegations at the highest level.
